Jakarta, January 15, 2025 – Museum Bahari, in collaboration with Indonesia Hidden Heritage, successfully hosted a talk show titled “Portrait of Coastal Life” at the Ir. H. Juanda Auditorium, Museum Bahari Jakarta. The event was moderated by Amani Rahutri Radhwarana from Perempuan Laut Indonesia and Karina A. Mintahir (Putri Indonesia Kepulauan Riau 2023 & Indonesia Hidden Heritage).
The discussion explored the challenges and opportunities faced by Indonesia’s coastal communities from economic, social, cultural, and environmental perspectives, featuring the following speakers:
- Nofa Farida Lestari – Executive Director of Indonesia Hidden Heritage, discussed the role of museums in supporting economic and social change.
- R. Hendrian – Deputy for Research Utilization and Innovation at BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency), presented strategic collaborations to support seaweed farmers in Lombok.
- Jajang Jamaludin – Deputy Director of TEMPO, highlighted the crucial role of media in amplifying coastal community issues.
The speakers emphasized that empowering coastal communities requires a holistic approach, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable programs. Supporting local MSMEs, strengthening cooperation ecosystems, and leveraging the media’s role in raising public awareness are strategic steps to drive significant change.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including government representatives, NGOs, academics, coastal communities, and media. Through this initiative, it is hoped that stronger synergies among all parties will enhance the well-being and sustainability of Indonesia’s coastal communities.
